Ibrahim’s Khan, known as Büyük Han, is a prominent historical monument in Nicosia, Cyprus, built in 1572 during the Ottoman era. It originally served as an inn for merchants and travellers, with a large central courtyard surrounded by two levels of rooms and a small mosque in the centre. Restored in the 1990s, Büyük Han is now a vibrant cultural and tourist centre with shops, cafes, art galleries and craft workshops. It is a symbol of the multicultural heritage of Cyprus and a popular tourist attraction, offering a rich historical and cultural experience. For the rehabilitation, aluminium composite panels were used in the special one-off “Natural copper” finish, an ideal choice that takes us to a time when copper and gold colours were used to enhance the architecture showcasing richness and splendour.
